Helen M. Palenchar 1923-2009
NEWTON FALLS - Helen M. Palenchar, 86, peacefully entered eternal life Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Laurie Ann Nursing Home, Newton Falls.
Helen was born March 25, 1923, in Austin, Pa., the daughter of Paul S. and Mary A. Marsine Palenchar.
When Helen was a young child, the family relocated to Newton Falls, where Helen attended the Newton Falls school district, graduating from Newton Falls High School. After graduation, Helen obtained employment at Timken Bearing May 10, 1943, where she became the first employee of the company. With Timken Bearing relocating to another area, Helen completed her employment May 9, 1946, and then on May 10, 1946, she began her career at Standard Steel Spring, Newton Falls, which later would become Rockwell International. Helen retired June 30, 1976, from her duties as a payroll clerk in Rockwell's accounting department.
Working on puzzles with her family was an enjoyable pastime for Helen. Collecting angel mementos would become a favorite hobby of Helen's. She maintained an extensive daily diary along with saving articles to complete her scrapbooks. Helen relaxed to the sounds of the "Lawrence Welk Show."
Helen was a devout parishioner of St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish, Newton Falls. While a resident of Laurie Ann Nursing Home, she would receive communion on Sunday and pray daily the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious and Luminous Mysteries. Helen found contentment with the inspirational message of the Ecumenical Television Channel.
Memories of Helen will be carried on by her sister, Elizabeth J. Palenchar; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Patricia Palenchar; her cousins and friends.
Preceding Helen were her parents; sisters, Martha E. Palenchar and Agnes Palenchar; and her brothers, Paul J. Palenchar and Thomas M. Palenchar.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Borowski Memorial Home, Newton Falls, where a prayer service will be held 10 a.m. Monday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish with the Rev. Matthew Mankowski as celebrant.
Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paris Township.
