The Lakeview senior ran 13.99 seconds in the event, smoking the competition at Saturday's Lakeview Invitational. It set a new meet and stadium record at Don Richards Field. Moody ran 14.15 to win last weekend's Poland Invitational title. Chagrin Falls' Alex Bill was second to Moody Saturday in a time of 15.04. Moody also won the open 100 (11.14) and took second in the long jump (20-0.5) to account for 28 of Lakeview's 141 points. The Bulldogs toppled Chagrin Falls, who scored 79 points for second place, to capture the invitational title. Cleveland Benedictine's Adam Patterson won the shot put (54 feet, 7.5 inches) and discus (148-7). Mathews' Mike Davis won the 200 (23.15) and Maplewood's Tom Bottorff took the 3,200 (10:17.11). Lakeview's 3,200 relay team of Albert Brannan, Nick Tripi, Aaron Jesse and Sam Jenkins added an extra punch to the Bulldogs' lineup as the foursome won in a meet record time of 8:26.76. Lakeview's top two runners, senior Tyler Ames and Heath Harris, took top five places at the Optimist Meet in Austintown. Ames was fourth in the 3,200, while Harris was fifth in the 1,600. Geneva beat Berkshire for the girls title, 122 to 112.5. Berkshire's Alexsandra Bowers set stadium and meet records in the 1,600 and 3,200 with times of 5:15.19 and 11:38.66, respectively. Lakeview freshman Lauren Schattinger won the 100 and 200 in times of 12.98 and 26.77, respectively. Bulldog senior Casey Watson won the discus (118-2), while Kiley Mathews won the 400 (1:00.82). Lakeview's team of Maria Gardner, Marissa Capogreco, Schattinger and Mathews won the 800 relay (1:49.31).
Howland's Nicole Pachol won the girls 300 hurdles in a school record time of 44.17. However, Pachol but lost her first 100 hurdles race of the season to Euclid's Tamica Harbour, who was the girls high point performer with 27 points at Fitch Falcon Stadium. Harbour went 14.76, while Pachol clocked 15.02. Howland's Dave Nelson took second to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy's Brad Adams in the 800, 1:56.02 to 1:58.54. Euclid beat Wadsworth for the boys title, 59 to 46, while Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy beat Warrensville Heights for the girls title, 69.5 to 59.20. Crestview's Jakob Leon Crestview broke the meet record and tied stadium record with a 6-11 height in the high jump. Green's Kelsie Ahbe set a meet record in the girls pole vault (10-9), while Gilmour Academy's Candice Longino-Thomas set a Division III state record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.19. Euclid's Ken Amos was the boys high point performed with 20 points.
St. Thomas Aquinas beat host Cardinal Mooney for the boys title, 113 to 100.5, while Mooney beat Aquinas of the girls title, 105 to 87. Kennedy boys finished third with 60 points, while the girls were fourth and had 30 points. |
