Frank Chuchalk 1917-2009

LAKE MILTON - Frank "Buck" Chuchalk, 91, of Lake Milton passed away peacefully Monday morning, April 27, 2009, at his home.

Born Aug. 30, 1917, in Alliance, Buck was the son of Hungarian immigrants Frank and Mary Ferris Chuchalk.

A 1935 graduate of Palmyra High School, Buck was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served our country during World War II.

Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to the Lake Milton area, where he went on to become an electrician. He retired from US Concrete Pipe after more then 30 years with the company and was also the sole proprietor of Bucky's Electric for many years.

Buck was a dedicated lifetime member of the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton, serving as past commander and Ninth District past commander. He was an extremely active and devoted member of Post 737's Military Honor Guard. Buck gave tirelessly of his time to honor fallen soldiers from both the Vietnam and Iraq wars performing military honors at the Rittman National Cemetery.

He was also a member of the AMVETS Post 112 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3332 in Newton Falls.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Evelyn June Snyder Chuchalk, whom he married Aug. 31, 1946, and shared 62 years of marriage; two daughters, Denise Chuchalk of Warren and Susan Colosimo and her fiance, Bill Locke of Lake Milton; a son, Terry M. Chuchalk, also of Lake Milton; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Suzanna Mizer of Rootstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Patricia Exline; a grandson, Ricky James Hornof; three brothers; five sisters; and a son-in-law, Joseph Colosimo.

Family and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. The Revs. Timothy and Jeannie Balentine will officiate a funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Palmyra Cemetery, where full military honors will be observed.
