Robert R. Spain 1946-2009April 22, 2009HOWLAND - Robert R. ''Bobby'' Spain, 62, died of a heart attack at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1946, in Warren, a son of George L. and Lena Mandalari Spain, and was a 1964 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. After a brick layers apprenticeship he was self-employed as a masonry contractor for 26 years at Trumbull Construction Co., which became Spain Construction and then Spagnulo Construction. He was the owner of ITAM No. 29 on High Street N.E. in Warren since 1991. He was a member of Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union of America Local 43 and Warren Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1090. He was an honorary Trumbull County sheriff's deputy, a golfer and fan of the Browns, Indians, Cavaliers and Ohio State. A Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he attained the rank of corporal and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device and Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include his wife, Linda Miranda Spain, whom he married Jan. 17, 1969; a son, James E. of Warren; two daughters, Lori of Warren and Sandy (Chris) Ensign of Lordstown; adopted daughter, Sherrey (Michael) McMahon of Warren; two brothers, George of Newton Falls and Terry (Becky) of Howland; seven sisters, Louise Ylisela of Chicago, Mary Fite of Cortland, Nancy (Doug) Marsh of Girard, Elinor Marsteller of Warren, Kathy (Jack) Henderson of Baytown, Texas, Charlene (Jim) LaRosa of New Springfield and Marlene Spain of New Springfield; six grandchildren, Dustin, Heather, Ashley, Robbie, Chyanne and Lexie; and two great-grandchildren, Angelina and Dominick. Preceding him in death were his parents and four sisters, Karen Spain, Evelyn Yannacey, Betty Stern and Sally Crawford. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Charles Crumbley. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and one half hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.
