MANSFIELD - Warren G. Harding High School's boys track and field team posted its best performance at the annual Mansfield Mehock Relays since 1967 over the weekend, placing third.
Cleveland Glenville (66 points) won the boys team title, followed by second-place Dayton Dunbar (60). Harding finished with 52 points.
The Raiders' third-place effort was led by junior Deaver Williamson, who won the 100-meter dash (10.66 seconds) and was second in the 200-meter dash (21.64).
Williamson also anchored Harding's victorious 400-meter relay team, which was clocked at 42.67. Junior Carlton Wilson and seniors Aunre Davis and Joe Threats joined Williamson in the relay.
Threats also performed well in the 100 and 200, finishing sixth and fifth, respectively, in those races. He was clocked at 11.00 in the 100 and 22.30 in the 200.
Senior Mitchell Seawood was second in the 110-meter hurdles, with a time of 14.36. Junior Marvin Logan (15.20) was eighth. Logan also was 10th in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 41.46.
Junior Aaron Wilson was fourth in the shot put, with a throw of 53 feet, 5 inches. Senior Desmond Reed was sixth in the long jump, with a leap of 20 feet, 11.5 inches.
Harding's Marteze Roper was eighth in the 800-meter run (2:00.91).
The Raiders also performed well in relay events.
Seawood, Logan, Reed and senior Deavery Richardson placed third in the 440-meter shuttle hurdle, with a time of 1:01.55.
Harding's 800-meter relay team of Seawood, Logan, senior Jarralle Butts and Reed finished 13th with a time of 1:34.72.
Reed, senior Joe Bland, Roper and Logan also combined for a 13th-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay, with a time of 3:43.76.
The Harding team of Bland, junior Kaleem Vann, freshman Tyler Wilson and Roper placed 16th in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 8:44.46.
Harding also had several impressive performances by members of its girls track and field team.
Senior Shanae' Butler was eighth in the 100-meter dash (12.94). Sophomore Ja'Quana Threats fifth in the long jump (16 feet, 1 inch) and was 16th in the 400-meter dash (1:02.64).
Harding's 800-meter relay team of junior Tashay Lett, senior D'Ereka Bernard, Threats and Butler placed ninth (1:46.34).
Junior Claire Brugler was 12th in the 100-meter hurdles (17.28) and 17th in the 300-meter hurdles (51.38).
Harding's girls team finished 28th.
