VIENNA - William "Bill" Bosheff, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Hospice House in Poland.
He was born in Niles, the son of Peter and Helen Kovac Bosheff. Bill was a lifetime Trumbull County resident.
After school, Bill entered the Merchant Marines. He also served in the Army in the 1st Calvary Division in Korea and was seriously wounded on Oct. 7, 1951. He received the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge and two campaign stars. He then worked for many years for the Army Corps of Engineers and was proud of working to dredge the St. Lawrence Seaway to preserve the seaway to commercial traffic. Bill was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Trumbull County Chapter No. 11 and enjoyed horse racing, fishing and boating. He was very knowledgeable of, and loved sharing that knowledge, of commercial shipping on the Great Lakes.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Markijohn Bosheff, whom he married June 4, 1966; two sons, Bill P. (Teri) Bosheff and Brian I. (Tracy) Bosheff, both of McDonald; one grandson, Josh; one granddaughter, Brooke; one brother, Steve Bosheff of Murietta, Calif., and two sisters, Eleanor Dimmick of San Jose, Calif., and Mary Williamson of Mineral Ridge. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
One brother, John Bosheff, preceded him in death.
Arrangements are being handled by Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield. There will be no calling hours, and private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Vienna Township Cemetery in Vienna.
