Tribune Chronicle

Tickets are on sale now for Mad About the Arts at the McDonough Museum of Arts.

The annual arts fundraiser features live entertainment, food and beverages provided by some of the area's most popular establishments and an art exhibition.

The main event runs from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 20 with music by the Second Avenue Band, an octet with four graduates of Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music. The galleries at the McDonough will display the 2009 Alumni Exhibition, which honors art department graduates and represents more than 35 years of art education at YSU.

A selection of wines, champagnes and microbrews will be featured along with hors d'oeuvres and desserts provided by: The Bone Bucket, Cassese's MVR, Clarencedale Cake, Giannios Candy, Tropea's Fine Pastry, Winslow's Cafe, Markko Vineyards, Mastropietro Winery, Thirsty Dog Brewery, Mocha House, Vintage Estate Wine and Beer and Struthers Beer, Wine & Spirits. Decorations will be provided by Edward's Florist.

A special Friends of the Arts preview reception starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature music by the Celtic band Brady's Leap.

Tickets are $75 with the Friends of the Arts preview or $40 for the main celebration only with McDonough members, YSU fine arts alumni and YSU faculty, staff and students admitted for $30.

Proceeds will benefit the McDonough and SMARTS program, an arts education partnership involving YSU's College of Fine & Performing Arts, the Beeghly College of Education, the Youngstown City Schools, and the many area arts organizations.
