Four charged with solicitation
Warren police stage prostitution stingBy CHRISTOPHER BOBBY / Tribune Chronicle
WARREN - Police detectives pulled off a sting operation Thursday evening, charging four women with solicitation after officers said an undercover officer posed as someone wanting to buy sex.
The undercover officer drove around the area of Belmont Street and North Park Avenue between 7 and 10 p.m., approaching women standing on street corners, according to reports.
Those arrested and held in Trumbull County Jail before appearances Friday afternoon in Warren Municipal Court were Brita Brogdon, 41, of 961 Tod Ave. S.W., Warren; Julie Tenney, 35, of 670 Mahan Denman Road, Bristolville; Keysa Haynes, 39, of 1188 Oak Knoll Ave. S.E., Warren; and Courtney Allgood, 22, of 220 Forest Street N.E., Warren.
All four were charged with misdemeanor solicitation, and Brogdon and Haynes also face additional counts of possession of drug paraphernalia since police said they found them in a car with crack pipes.
Brogdon threw her pipe out of a car window, almost hitting an arresting officer in the head with the pipe while he was approaching them, according to Lt. Thomas Skoczylas, the narcotics/vice unit commander.
All four women pleaded not guilty to charges and were scheduled for pretrial hearings Nov. 4 before Judge Thomas Gysegem. Their bond was set at $750. They remained in jail Friday after court.
Skoczylas said the department plans similar stings in the future, some perhaps targeting ''johns'' or men attempting to pick up the women.
Mayor Michael J. O'Brien said the city plans a show of force over similar crimes in that neighborhood, whether it is undercover operations or uniform officers making calls.
''Police can make the arrest and get them off the street. What happens after that isn't up to the officers,'' O'Brien said. ''We will have an emphasis there, though.''

If they would go hard after the drugs and dealers they whores wouldn't be there. These girls are out there because they are junkys. No dope, no girls. Drugs are all over the place in that area. The cops know that the dope houses are there and do little or nothing. Park outside on the street and see how many people go to buy dope there.

I figured if the Democrats had no problem spending seven BILLION DOLLARS on a 7 mile road in Boston surly Ryan could toss us some chump change to start a program. But the subject here is human train wrecks that CAN be salvaged.THEN your City will be cleaned up.Otherwise they will get out and Mnich can have something to report on while he stands outside of public buildings satisfying his addiction to nicotine. The cost saving should be apparent in both public funds and human suffering.Hmm?

Pleas read.I wasn't quoting you, I was stating a fact.Another fact is jails are not rehabilitation centers, they are punishment cells! They do nothing to educate, instill self worth, or guidance to a healthy life style.Mr Dunn committing suicide in the NF jail is an example of jail house rehab! When you have time read "The Crime of Punishment" by Dr Karl C Menninger. There is a much cheaper solution that actually works.Hmm?

For anyone who wants to be light on these criminals: Please put your address down and add a welcome to any of the four arrested and any of their friends to come on over and walk around in front of your house. Your story would change quickly!!

Whoa... I never said to murder or sterilize anybody. Please do not put words in my mouth just to try and win some internet battle you have with me. For the record, I am against jailing an addict for the sole purpose of punishing them. I strongly believe in addiction recovery. Sometimes jail or the act of being arrested is enough to make one hit 'rock bottom' and seek help in recovery. On the other hand, there are plenty of dealers and addicts who do not want help and choose to 'do their business' in an area where it is 'permitted' by means of cops and citizens looking the other way, pretending it doesn't exist. The point I am making is by the cops starting to give the message that crack pipes and prostitution is illegal will do 1 of 2 things: help someone in need of recovery to get there or by pushing the crime out for those who never want to change.

You can't cure a black eye with a punch in the mouth.Punishing the victims of a SOCIAL DISEASE cures nothing.Throughout recorded history Governments have been jailing, sterilizing, and even murdering the poor, ignorant, and addicts. That is a very long time of repeating the same mistake. The "raid" will do NOTHING to clean up the City or DRIVE crime out (To another city). The only thing it will do is waste money.Hmm?

OK Handala, You win. You can keep your prostitutes on the street and continue the crime in Warren and let allllll the crack addicts, drug dealers and thugs on the streets know that Warren has a big green light for more to come! I have an idea.. why don't you start a welcome wagon? Then you can make it clear that street hookers and crack dealers are a-ok by you and the city? Please. talking about $8K.. I'll bet you my life savings that each of these women are on welfare or SSI, making a lot more than $8K per year. The point is not spending $8K to put 4 woman in jail for 25 days. The point of this raid is to start the cycle of cutting out illegal activities and the start of driving this out of the city. If the cops just sit back and let it happen, what will stop more prostitutes from migrating into the city and having this corner of town grow and grow?

Here is a childish game to play.Throw 4 addicts into jail at a cost of eighty five dollars per day for twenty five days and we can all feel good that the City has been sanitized for a mere eight thousand five hundred dollars! That would be the cost providing none get sick.Imagine crack addicts NOT getting sick!Hmm?
