George Todoran 1922-2008
REYNOLDSBURG - George Todoran, 86, of Reynoldsburg, formerly of Howland, died at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Warren, the son of the late Jacob and Sanda Ratui Todoran.
He moved to Reynoldsburg in 2003 from Howland, where he had lived since 1950.
He was a graduate of Leavittsburg High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Youngstown State University, where he majored in accounting.
Mr. Todoran retired from Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company after 31 years, where he was a comptroller in the Youngstown and Cleveland offices. He then became an accountant at Wheatland Tube, retiring in 1989 after seven years.
He was a member of Howland Community Church.
Mr. Todoran enjoyed golfing, bowling, swimming, and tinkering.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Mr. Todoran is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Phillip) Walters of Reynoldsburg, with whom he made his home, and Patricia Todoran-Katz of Bexley; four grandchildren, Steven Cross, Heather Katz, Jessica Katz and Jason Katz; and one great-grandchild, Kayden Cross.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline E. Horvath Todoran, whom he married July 20, 1947, and who died Nov. 6, 2005; and his parents.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Peter Rossi and Son Memorial Chapel, where calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and one-half hour prior to services Friday. Burial will be at Crown Hill Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Warren Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St. S.E., Warren 44483.
