More complaints filed in AG’s office
Women claim hostile work environmentBy RON SELAK JR. Tribune Chronicle
The two women whose complaints sparked a sexual harassment investigation that eventually led to former Attorney General Marc Dann's downfall now find themselves accused of creating a hostile work environment.
Cindy Stankoski and Vanessa Stout had complaints filed against them by two female co-workers, accusing them of poor behavior, including giving dirty looks to co-workers and making rude comments after the scandal in Columbus broke in May.
Two women who work with Stankoski, 27, and Stout, 26, in the General Services department, Amanda Saxton and Erika Haske, filed the complaints.
A third complaint was filed recently by Jennifer Urban, attorney in the charitable law section, against former communications director Leo Jennings III and former general services director Anthony Gutierrez. It accuses the two former top aides to Dann of harassing her.
Jennings and Gutierrez were fired in the fallout from the scandal.
In Haske's complaint, she claims Stout tried picking an argument with her and said Haske was sleeping with three people in the attorney general's office, which Haske wrote was ''slander and absolutely not true.''
The attempt at starting an argument was heard by other people in the office, Haske wrote.
Saxton wrote that on one occasion, Stankoski dumped a pile of papers on Saxton's desk rather than putting them in her in-box, and on another day, she arrived at work to find a magnet from her computer missing. Saxton wrote that Stankoski bought the magnet on a trip to Jamaica and gave it to her, but doesn't know who took the magnet.
''I am not concerned, it was a cheap magnet, but it is upsetting that I have to worry about things being taken from my work station,'' Saxton wrote.
Rex Elliott, attorney for Stankoski and Stout, called the complaints ''junior high school type of stuff,'' saying it doesn't compare to what his clients experienced. He said it was retaliation against Stankoski and Stout for speaking out earlier.
Stankoski's and Stout's complaints led to Dann's resignation, Jennings' and Gutierrez's firings and the resignation of former chief of staff Edgar Simpson.
Attorney general spokesman Ted Hart said he could not discuss the content of the complaints because the matter is under investigation.
''The office takes all such complaints seriously and will thoroughly investigate each one of them,'' Hart said.

I am wondering just what happened to that grass-root movement to have Daffy Dan tarred and feathered and deported out of this country. When will this screwball get out of our lives.

Unfortunately, anyone who works in an office knows this stuff goes on all the time. No kids, it doesn't stop when you graduate from High School.

To think that these people were hired because of their abilities to do a job. There are so many qualified indivuals that would love to have the opportunity that these people had. I guess you don't need intelligence nor common sense to get in the door.

The more this goes on, the worse the Mahoning Valley takes it in their already black eye. Daffy Dann did nothing to improve the image of the Valley at all.
