PENSACOLA, Fla. - Steven Kent White, 51, 4505 Montepelier Drive, passed this life early Thursday morning, July 10, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola with his mother and a brother by his side. Steven went home after a gallant two-year battle against cancer.
He was born Jan. 8, 1957, in Warren, the son of Saundra Jean White of Liberty and the late Charles White Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Saundra; three brothers, C. Mitchell of Pensacola, Nolan Randolph of Buford, Ga., and Bronson Charles and sister Gina-Maria Donnelly, both of Newport, Mich.; his son, Thomas White-Greene of Warren; two aunts, Brenda Gilbert of Mainville and Carol Yancy of Warren; his uncle, the Rev. F. Robert Williams of Warren; his special friend, Mattie Davis and her son Jonathon, of Pensacola; five nephews; two nieces; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. He also leaves his very best friend, his dog, Lady.
Steven was formerly a resident of Warren, Youngstown and Monroe, Mich. He attended Warren and Youngstown schools. He proudly served his country as a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He started his own business and worked in the construction industry in Ohio, Michigan and Florida until he became ill.
Steven's dream to donate his body for the purpose of cancer research was realized, as he has been accepted at the University of Southern Alabama.
A celebration of Steven's life will be held Saturday. The family will receive friends from noon to 4 p.m. at the home of his mother, 3550 Cardinal Drive, Liberty. A brief memorial service will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Drive in Warren. Immediately following the memorial, there will be a ''homegoing'' at the Louis Mitchell (The Elks) Lodge #222 on 1919 Highland Ave., Warren, OH 44485.
