SWARTZ CREEK, Mich. - Anthony Thomas ''Tony'' Rydzak, 83, of Swartz Creek, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at Genesys Health Park.
Tony was born Dec. 25, 1924, the son of the late Frank and Julia (Litwin) Rydzak.
He married Kathrine Kocsis on Oct. 25, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Flint, Mich.
Tony was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the European Theatre.
He was employed by General Motors as a quality control supervisor until his retirement. Tony enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, and took great pride in his Polish heritage. He was a loving husband to Kathrine, and thoroughly enjoyed the recent celebration party for their 60th anniversary.
Surviving are his wife, Kathrine; five children, Sandra Poston of Flint, Daniel Rydzak (Cynthia) of Cortland, Judith Stiegemeyer (Karl) of Howell, Mark Rydzak (Sande) of Tucson, Ariz., Patricia Covert (Lydale) of Flint; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Krol of Newton Falls; three brothers, Walter Rydzak (Rita) of New Mexico; and Chester Rydzak and Frank Rydzak (Louise), both of Texas.
Funeral mass will be celebrated noon Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth St., Flint. The Rev. Robert Copeland will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Flint Memorial Park, Mount Morris where military honors will be served under the auspices of VFW Chevrolet Post 3087. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family extends great appreciation to the staff at Genesys Health Park Intensive Care Unit for their care and concern.
