Alma L. Plant 1919-2008

NILES — Alma L. Plant, 89, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.

Mrs. Plant was born in Niles on May 12, 1919, the daughter of Russell and Hazel L. (Davis) Campbell.

She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a homemaker.

Alma enjoyed bingo, crocheting, watching sports, spending time working on her Word Find book, and playing cards with her family. She was very close to her grandchildren and loved the quality time she spent with her family while visiting and staying with them both locally and far away. Most of all, she enjoyed baking for the holidays, especially her sugar cookies.

Her memberships included the Niles Moose Lodge and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Greenville, N.C.

Her husband, Clement Roger Plant, whom she married Jan. 10, 1941, died July 26, 1980.

Survivors include eight children, Sandra Plant of Niles, Russell P. Plant of Girard, Carol and her husband, Jerry Kachmere of McDonald, Dorothy Tomlin of Sharon, Pa., Roger and his wife, Isabelle Plant of Greenville, N.C., Richard and his wife, Debra Plant of Girard, William and his wife, Kathie Plant of Poland, and Mark A. Plant of Wellington, 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel, 415 Robbins Ave. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
