Rose M. Biviano, 1921-2008

NILES — Rose M. Biviano, 86, co-founder and operator of Biviano Floor Coverings in McKinley Heights, now Biviano Carpet One, died of complications of cancer on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Niles.

She was born July 7, 1921, in Niles, the daughter of Dominic and Maria Mangino Prezioso.

Rose founded the flooring retailer with her husband, Rocco J. Biviano, in 1946 and remained active in the business until March 2005.

During World War II, she served in administrative capacities as a war ordnance worker at the Lordstown Ordnance Depot.

A lifelong resident of Niles, Rose was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and remained active with numerous affiliations, including services as a Cub Scout den mother, the Women’s Guild, and as a kitchen volunteer for the parish’s annual summer festival. She was also active in inter-faith Bible studies and often hosted their meetings.

Her travels took her throughout Europe, the Middle East and China.

A 1939 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, she attended Youngstown Business College from 1940 to 1941, prior to her service. In addition to her business interests, she was an avid antiques collector and dealer. Her other interests included real estate, cooking and floral arrangements.

Her husband, Rocco Joseph Biviano, whom she married June 30, 1945, died Dec. 7, 1983.

Surviving are three sons, David Biviano and his wife, Lynn, of Warren, attorney William Biviano and his wife, Cheryl, of Liberty, and Mark Biviano of Rocky River; three grandchildren, James Biviano and his wife, Jennifer, Andrew Biviano and Gina Biviano; a great-grandson, Rocco Biviano; and three sisters, Jen Kreidler, Carmel Francu and Vera Sulick.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home, where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 5:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Larry Frient officiating, preceded by a 9 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, material contributions can be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 381 Robbins Ave., Niles 44446 or to the Memorial Scholarship Program at John F. Kennedy High School, 2550 Central Parkway Ave. S.E., Warren 44484.
