The Kiwanis Club of Warren will host its 34th Erwin Klein Memorial SCHOLASTIC ACHIEVEMENT BANQUET at 6 p.m. Thursday at DiLucia’s Banquet Room on Elm Road in Warren. The yearly event will recognize the top 15 students in academic achievement from Warren G. Harding, the top 10 from John F. Kennedy and the top five from Lordstown High schools. The Warren Kiwanis Club sponsors a Key Club in each of these schools. Students each receive a complimentary meal, $100 in scholarships and a recognition certificate. State Sen. Capri S. Cafaro, D-Hubbard,will give the keynote address. Tickets to the event are $15. A 27-year member of the Kiwanis Club, Klein served both as club president and secretary. The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is hosting Dr. M. Shayesteh for a ‘‘BE HEALTHY AND FIT” question-and-answer session from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the multi-purpose room. He will discuss health and wellness topics. Shayesteh is a board certified nutritionist, diabetes educator and weight-loss specialist. He has spent more than 16 years designing individualized diet and exercise programs for obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease and other nutrition-related programs.
