Alcohol awareness

April 30, 2008
Tribune Chronicle | TribToday.com
A town hall meeting for parents was held Tuesday evening in the community room of the YWCA in downtown Warren by the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) as part of the group’s campaign ‘‘Parents Who Host Lose the Most.’’

It was aimed at encouraging parents and the community to send a message this prom and graduation season that underage drinking is illegal, unsafe and unhealthy, and that consequences for allowing it can extend to adults as well.

The keynote speaker for the event was Doug Wentz, community services director for the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic. A presentation also was made by students from Howland High School.

Throughout April, ASAP and Trumbull LifeLines are participating in Alcohol Awareness Month by bringing attention to the disease of alcoholism and emphasizing the health risks associated with problem drinking. For more information, visit www.asaptrumbull.org or www.tlifelines.org.
