Mary Pearl Gorman Dodson 1928-2008

CHAMPION — Mary Pearl Gorman Dodson, 80, of Champion died of pneumonia Saturday morning, April 12, 2008, at Hospice House in Poland.

She was born March 30, 1928, in Blair County, Pa., the daughter of the late Robert and Ada Lloyd Gorman. She and her husband lived on North Leavitt Road for many years.

Mary was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She enjoyed cooking and was an avid baseball fan, especially of the Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves.

She played in a country band with her husband in the 1950s and 1960s, called Stoney & Chuck and the Blue Sky Boys. She was a singer and played the upright bass and drums.

Mary was just honored last month by her children and their families with an 80th birthday celebration. Mary appreciated everyone who attended her 80th birthday party.

Mary was preceded in death in 1974 by her husband, Warren C. ‘‘Stoney’’ Dodson Jr., whom she married June 27, 1949. Also deceased is a son, Gene Dodson, and one grandson, Tommy Davies; three sisters, Betty Kelly, Nan Holden and Polly Cunningham; and a brother, Bob Gorman, all preceded her in death.

She is survived by four daughters, Rose Davies and Cindy (Ray) Kinnison, both of Champion and Brenda Kagy and Sherry Dodson, both of Warren; two sons, Leon (Karin) Dodson of Leavittsburg and Warren C. ‘‘Juney’’ Dodson of Champion; a daughter-in-law, Suzette, of Southington; grandchildren Bonnie (Nick) Frankos, Vickie Liebal, Tina Davies, Keith, Dan, Gene and Kate Dodson, Mary Kagy, Pam (Rob) Canfield, Vincent and Steve Liebal, Debbie Schoulders and Mike Davies; 11 great grandchildren, Natalie, Selena, Kyle, Madyson, Gabrielle, Bella, Cameron, Josh, Tristan, Terrance ‘‘TT,’’ Tiffany and Jeremy; and a great-granddaughter, Abby. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruth (Joe) Benke of Cortland and Louise Gorman of Warren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Arrangements are being handled by the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Rod Meyer officiating.

Burial will be at Pine Knoll Cemetery in Warren Township.
