Champion teen missing from home

March 29, 2008
Tribune Chronicle
CHAMPION — Josh White left home a month ago with a three-month supply of contact lenses, his videogame system and the clothes on his back, according to his family.

His mother and stepfather, Wendy and Terry Munroe, said they last saw him when he went to bed Feb. 26. Wendy said she went to work Feb. 27 and Josh, 17, was supposed to go to school, but he never showed up at Champion High School.

Now, all they can do is wait.

The couple said he was last seen with his friend Trent Hamilton, 17, of Newton Falls. Neither teen took a car, so Wendy believes they are either taking a bus or hitching rides to wherever they are going.

‘‘We’re worried because there’s a lot that can happen to a young man,’’ Wendy said.

Champion police officer Kelly Boyle said he took a missing persons report Feb. 27, but police have no reason to believe there is foul play involved. He said the teenagers may be in California.

Wendy said Trent’s mother lives in Montana, and they asked the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office to check out the lead, but it was a dead end.

Terry Munroe said Josh was always was a good student, but he was grounded a week before he ran away for bad grades. His mother said she had his cell phone turned off a few days before he left because he didn’t pay the bill.

Wendy said Josh called her sister March 20, but he blocked the number and refused to tell his aunt where he was, other than that he was out of state.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded Marilyn Manson sweatshirt, jeans and black Converse tennis shoes, Wendy said. She is asking that anyone who knows where he is call the Champion Police Department at 330-847-9363 or post it on a Web site she created called www.findjosh@live.com.
