Dunkin’ Donuts plans Howland restaurant

HOWLAND — Dunkin’ Donuts plans to build a new restaurant in the township at the corner of state Route 46 and Kenyon Drive, where a retail center is planned.

Grand opening for the restaurant is targeted for July, Bryan Stolte, a partner in Spice Mills Inc., the franchisee for Dunkin’ Brands, said. The retail center should be open late this year or early 2009, he added.

Spice Mills manages five Dunkin’ facilities in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.

The restaurant will have a drive-through, indoor seating for 21 customers and outdoor seating for eight. Construction is expected to start in early March.

“We’re looking forward to a very strong opening for this new shop,” Stolte said.

Representatives for Dunkin’ Donuts said growth has been strong in recent years. They said it has become the largest coffee and baked goods chain in the world.

The restaurant will be part of a new retail development by Veon Real Estate.

Plans will be announced for additional stores and, possibly, another restaurant. “The proposed development will have a lifestyle center look and feel,” Bryce Veon, developer of the project, said.

Land along that busy section of Route 46 has attracted the attention of developers, officials have said. Chick-fil-a is planning to break ground later this year.

Mark Zuppo, township zoning inspector, said the announcement by Dunkin’ Donuts has raised interest from other businesses in the location.
