DOVER — Laurel J. Hicks, 68, of Dover, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Union Hospital following a brief illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1940, in Beckley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Wade and Janet Foley Waddell. Her sister, Jeannie Waddell, also preceded her in death.
She was actively involved at the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia.
Laurel was a loving, caring and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sadly missed by her husband of 46 years, Ray Hicks, whom she married July 1, 1961; a daughter, Erica (Mark) Mears of Dover; a son, Jeff (Misti) Hicks of Forest; siblings, Abgail (John) Scott, Ardith (Tony) Jessup and Wade (Elizabeth) Waddell Jr., all of Beckley, W.Va., and four grandchildren, Michael, Cory, Wesley and Mason.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory, with Pastor Joe Schulz officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
