it wasn't safe at the football game due to the "threats" was mostly made to the police officers and was afraid it would induce panic and too many innocent ppl would be hurt, they said it wasn't worth the risk.

If you really want to clean up the streets in Trumbull County form a countywide task force of law enforcement and let them do their jobs. They know who the dirtbags are and where they hang out. The same people who bit*ch about law enforcement when they have to shoot a criminal are the same people bit*ch that they don't feel safe in their communities or homes. Time for the people to look the other way for a change, some boots to the throat or some teeth kicked in would be a nice start. If not just stay in your homes cowering behind closed drapery.

They should have moved the game to Lorain or moved the game to Saturday morning with a strong police presence. Police 0 Thugs 1 that appears to be the score.

It was the hatred for obama that led louis mann to strangle his mom, beat his dad in the head and shoot him several times, only a blackhearted, souless republican can kill his parents w/no remorse.

I have to agree this was a bad decision. The solution...instead of announcing a cancellation, they should have been announcing that only one or maybe 2 entrances would be open and everyone would be 'wanded' with a hand-held metal detector and all bags would be searched. You also double-up on security.

Remember the Walker Boys were the guys is dead and other in jail.

But at the end of the day, any critics of this asinine, ill-advised move that has set this city back years in the fight to assure folks that it is safe can simply say "We did it for the safety of the kids" or "We did it for the safety of the police"

Two bullet-proof (pun intended) defenses that will assure that even the filmiest defense of their decision is not taken apart like the sub-par, Class D vacant home it is.

Yes, the police may know more than the general public, but they also have a job where getting shot is not only a risk, but is a rare occurrence.

Let us say there is truth to this RUMOR, what is the more likely scenario: A cop gets shot in front of 4,000 people at a football game or gets shot sitting alone in a parking lot on Franklin Street surfing his ipad while waiting for a call.

What sounds more likely?

And if there is grounds to these rumors that caused the perception of the safety of this city to plummet, what other precautions have the PD taken this week? Have they started to double up on patrols? Are they responding to calls not alone now? Are they now wearing their vests as a matter of course now? We won't know this stuff, but it probably is the stuff they are doing if this rumor had grounds...

I think the game was cancelled because the people who made the call heard RUMORS and did not want any liability if anything happened. Simple as that.

Well, msmith, that is still speculation and rumor mongering. Hey everyone, what is your favorite Walker shooting aftermath RUMOR?

Here are some of the RUMORS I've heard:

1- Gang members were coming from either Detroit, Texas or New York City (and I heard all three from different people) to either shoot up cops or the first citizens they saw

2- Walker and his father were surrounded by police last weekend and were arrested.

3- The police had a checkpoint on Parkman road and were searching all vehicles coming into the city.

4- Shooting at a popular eatery near downtown/west side.

5- The game last night was cancelled because the opposing team refused to come to Warren.

Again, all RUMORS!

MandatoryMullets, great post, I agree with you 100%. Too bad there are still fools out there--no names needed--who blame all the problems on segregation. Seriously?? These young people have never experienced segregation, nor have their parents or grandparents. That would be the same as my blaming all my problems on the discrimination my grandfather faced when he immigrated here 100 years ago.

And I'm glad all you anonymous poster, who are calling the police, school administrators, and politicians "fraidy cats" and "spineless leaders." No doubt you have more information on any threats than they do. You have more knowledge of the facts and threats, sitting there playing on the internet while watching your soap operas, than the people whose job it is to know about such things do. Maybe you'd be happier if more people were shot and killed.
