Familyguy is correct. This is a collaboration between Govt. and private interests.Local reps. need professional help with these big issues. It's called INVESTMENT!The rewards will greatly exceed the $150,000 spent on consultants. No vision,no hope,no dreams,no expectations,no capability of seeing possibilities...that is the hallmark of the TRIB naysayers.Visionaries will prevail regardless of the anal-retentive pessimists that post here.@paulydel,you are 100% correct, good call!

Another consulting firm conning the chamber of commerce and the chamber conning the tax payer. Any business knows and goes where they can profit without a "consulting" firm to hype an area.

As far as I can tell this is a waste of $150,000.00. Committees and groups of this nature are notoriously huge failures. Put that money where it can actually do some good.

“Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.” ? Edmund Burke

If any of the know-it-all's on this "excellence in regional planning" panel had even done a limited study of world history, he or she would know that CENTRAL PLANNING HAS NEVER WORKED. Human beings, even in the Mahoning valley, are smart enough to make their own decisions for economic betterment, regional plan or not. Private foundation are free to spend their money on "touted planning experts", but to use taxpayer money to pay for services not wanted or needed is wasteful. This article is depressing.

We are pleased that at least some local folks are optimistic about the future of this once thriving area.
