Excessive speed was not the issue in this crash. A semi failing to stop caused this crash. Unfortunately the elderly driver did not keep clear enough distance to stop and plowed into the back of the semi. People simply are not paying attention to the road.

This is the second death in Ohio in about a week due to a semi not slowing down for traffic ahead. Maybe truck drivers should pay attention to the road and not their phones, movies etc in the cab? They are supposed to be professional drivers, and I would hold them to a higher standard of responsibility if I ever sat on a jury. And Daniel, I agree with you on the speed cameras in constructions zones!

construction sites is the one place that I would be in all favor of ticket speed cameras.

The speed limit might as well be 55 for the entire length of the turnpike because they line it with orange barrows from one end to the other. They aren't doing any work in most of those areas, just seems like a good place to store all those barrows.

The increased speed limit has just added to the aggression, while allowing much less response time when trouble show up.

Rest in peace Mr. Kuhns.

Excessive speed on the Ohio turnpike is rampant. Failure to slow at construction sights is normal. I find that if I slow to 55 at construction sites I have vehicles looming large in my rearview mirror. Double fines do not scare people.
