"They" is the marketplace. Gas is a world commodity. "Engery independence" is misnomer. It's pure capitalism. America and patriotism have nothing to do with it.

every time they lower gas prices , it only lasts for a week or 2. Then it's right back up there if not hugher. One step forwards two steps back.

Keep it down!

All this talk about cheap gas at 3.55 is bs.

We're paying big bucks for a foreign policy designed to keep up the flow of foreign oil, AND we're paying big bucks at the pump.

Should be one, or the other. Not both.

I no longer buy "the spike is due to conflicting signals about the strength of future demand, slowing China growth and plunging U.S. fuel stockpiles." BS.

Supposedly, the main reason that gas and oil companies are drilling in our watersheds, parks and close to residences is to make the US energy independent. Instead, these companies are exporting our 'precious resources' to Asia where they can sell at a higher price than what we are already paying here.

If you believe the reason that big oil companies are drilling everywhere, then we should no longer be lacking in oil and gas resources. However, if you believe their other story that our resources are rare, then paying high prices for energy is warranted. They have all the bases covered with their lies.
