Obamaphones. Obamaphones. Obamaphones. The bottom line is taxes are taken from one group to pay for freebies for another. So how does that help the COMMON good? The program was vastly expanded under Obama, and I haven't heard a peep from any Democrat concerning the waste, fraud and general unfairness of the program. Obamaphones! Obamaphones! Obamaphones!

The phone companies are charged with collecting the surcharge to provide free, or low cost phone service (cell and/or landline) to those who qualify.

Why should anyone qualify for anything they can't afford?

Regarding the repeated mention of "Obama Phones."

Check your phone bill, it's a government mandated program that originated under President Reagan, and is paid for with a surcharge on the phone consumer. The phone companies are charged with collecting the surcharge to provide free, or low cost phone service (cell and/or landline) to those who qualify.

Senator is right. It's a sneaky accounting trick to make it look like we have more money than we really do. How do you think President Clinton wound up with a "Surplus"

Of course socialists like WP love to forget that it was her party of dimocrats that drained the findind for social security and put the money into the general fund. Under Johnson I believe. So now she can spew her brand of ignorant venom.

Sen. Capri Cafaro, D-Niles, said she has been working in Columbus to expand Medicaid in Ohio.

Ask her if shes willing to pay it with her trust fund and the Cafaro coffers!

First of all all these Black Hole Programs are funded without review or limits.

Next, the USA can no longer sustain wars or military action against any nation or group.

Lastly everyone focuses on a narrow segment of what the US spends every year thinking that that will solve the problems.

The US is no longer in position to be the the World Policemen anymore. These incursions have bankrupted the finite amount of money it has. Couple all this with Corporations selling out the United States to China and other countries for a buck and the chickens have come home to roost. Guess who pays for it? Those who can least afford it. The Elderly, infirmed and the Poor. While rich elite imperialist want to carry on as usual with their agendas.

Can't see how anyone could disagree with Resistance on this one!

I also have read the same explanation of SS financing written by Senator. I regularly notice FamilyG opposes any measures designed to assist the poor in general and minorities in particular.

Your rendition of SS financing is nearly word for word as that of klan rhetoric. What you guys seem to ignore is that the minority population you hate so much makes up less than 25% of those receiving free phones, food stamps, section 8 and other Govt handouts.

You're just as wrong about this as you are about every other aspect of humanity that you believe makes humans superior to other humans by ethnic origin...

separate account in the federal budget. But whether the Trust Funds are "on-budget" or "off-budget" is primarily a question of accounting practices--it has no affect on the actual operations of the Trust Fund itself.

FG, your untruths and myths abound! There has never been any change in the way the SS is financed or in the way that its payroll taxes are used by the government. The SS Trust Fund was created in 1939 as part of the Amendments enacted in that year. From its inception, the Trust Fund has always worked the same way. The SS Trust Fund has never been "put into the general fund of the government." This myth comes from a confusion between the financing of the Social Security program and the way the SS Trust Fund is treated in federal budget accounting. Starting in 1969 the transactions to the Trust Fund were included in the "unified budget." This means that every function of the federal government is included in a single budget. This is described by saying that the SS Trust Funds are "on-budget." This budget treatment of the SS Trust Fund continued until 1990 when the Trust Funds were again taken "off budget". This means only that they are shown as a

Saw them on TV last night. A massive protest with grand total of FIVE people chained with what looked like a toy chain. That surely demonstrates a groundswell of support to justify the Trib allowing Ms. Cafaro to spout her Medicaid expansion spiel. LOL

Ha you want the same coverage as your elected representatives LOL, the Serfs are not entitled to what our Feudal Lords have. A job that was to serve the people has become a job where they serve themselves. We copuld fix SS and medicare with a small % of the pentagons 1 trillion $ budget. If we weren't in a perpetual state of bankrupting wars we could address our roads, bridges and our own economy. Sadly a cabal of maybe 1 thousand people keep the war machine going while the programs americans depend on go bust.

SS monies were folded into the General Fund during the LBJ administration and have remained there through out all subsequent administrations (dem AND rep).

one has to ask if those funds weren't squandered for obama phones, food stamps for the shiftless, (instead of just the true helpless), and for crony capitalism schemes, if there would be any true crisis or need to cut back on senior benefits.

With no hope of the federal government ever returning the "borrowed" funds back to the trust fund, it is apparent that the seniors of tomorrow must pay for abuses of the non-contributors and healthy wards of the state of today.

Ramkisoon like your thinking. Consider due process clause where chained CPI appears arbitrary as not being suggested for all government spending. Would also offer that Fleming vs Nestor decision was against an alien communist in early 1960's and the courts were nationally protective. Today's courts are more liberal in thinking and this may not stand up especially since Social Security payments are rolled into general fund with an IOU since mid 60's.
