Government creates the problem with NAFTA, trade policies, energy policies etc then acts surprised that they F-ed it up, and then offer assistance to those affected. I think these people would rather have their job than govt assistance.

By the time our gubment takes it's redistribution cut and we pay our $2000+ health care deductable along with obamacare taxes on our health care plan, and the monthly portion we pay outright, you are probably doing better with your welfare coverage. 3-4k a month does not go far when you have to pay for your own food, housing, utilities, transportation, cell phones, property taxes, home and car insurance, etc.. Yeah, I am planning on returning to school at 50+ but not at the gubment(taxpayer expense). GE is offering tuition reimbursement for the first 3 years following the plant closing. Yes, I am sure I will not be using this government benefit!

Since the majority are eligible for retirement benefits of $3000 - $4000 a month with healthcare, I'm sure they won't use this government benefit.
