Incidentally, the school employee referenced was laid off when they closed the old schools and moved into the new building. I was told that she will be called back when someone retires, but until then is out of work (she is not a teacher).

Actually escaped, I'm 99% sure Brookfield is not only "pay to play," they are also pay to be on student council, pay to be involved in any club, pay to be in the school play, etc. I may be wrong, but a couple years ago, I was told this by one of the school employees, and she said that was why so many students were transferring from Brookfield to Badger. Again, I may be wrong, but was told this by a school employee.

Heres a suggestion, how about lets learn to live and operate on your budget and do as the rest of us have to do, dont spend more then you make. Pay raises could simply freeze as the kids test much lower in the state yet the teachers pay is at the top of the tier in the state.

Agree w/all comments (don't spend what you don't have/foreign wars and foreign aid/) - agree, that is, with the obvious exception of one poster.

The whole country is in fiscal emergency. Don't worry though we still have enough money to protect the opium fields in Afghanistan, send billions in foreign aid to mid east and arm al qeada terrorists in Syria to overthrow a country who has resisted the will of the Central bankers like Gadhaffi. Wouldn't it be nice if our govt was actually for the people of this country instead of attacking our rights and bankrupting our kids with deficit spending.

Yep, you can't blame these local school officials. Only a rocket scientist or an accountant with an advanced degree can understand the concept that YOU DON'T SPEND MONEY YOU DON'T HAVE.

What part of misfeasance don't they understand?

If they can't live within their means, merge them with another district, eliminate duplicated administrators and programs, and get back to basic education with "pay to play" for all sports and extra-curricular. Any time the State has to come in and take over financial control of a school district or local government, the State should have the power to dissolve any existing collective bargaining agreement and replace it with one that is manageable under the finances available. If you like that idea, keep voting no on levies. If not, don't complain when it happens.

Brookfield taxpayers and parents should give Governor Kasich a big pointed boot in his arse because he caused this to happen with his state budget cuts.
