May 8, 2013

DEAR EDITOR: I received a phone call at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, telling me I had won a ‘‘sweepstakes.’’ The call came from Florida, the number was 305-555-1212....

I had no idea the 555 exchange was usable or real as a phone number since it's always used on television.

LOL @ Bill.... I do the exact same thing Bill, telling them all kinds of bull crap, asking personal information, etc... I even go as far as get them to agree to do me sexual favors for money, make them say disgusting things about their sex lives to keep my attention.

Even as a teen I started turning obscene calls into an obscene call going the other way. My wife gets a huge laugh when an idiot dials our number attempting to be funny. I always beat them to the punch.

It's well known when you call our land line to speak up quickly or risk ending up as my laugh for the day :-)

I mess with them. I tell them all kinds of whacked information. They usually hang up on me. I tell them things like a different address, I'm 112 years old, the wrong state, I have three wives, etc... They just don't know what to say.

A similar scam happened to my dad last year. He reported it right away.

Another one is for free blood testers. If you need a blood tester your doctor will give you one
