aeneid, can state one case, name or any other evidence of forced prostitution or sex slaves that were the result of the raiding of the message parlors? I think not!!!

To no one in particular I'll just reassert that the forced prostitution sting that happened did in fact involve women that were forced to do sexual favors for clients at those "massage parlor" establishments. It was human trafficking, plain and simple. And in black and white the Tribune Chronicle, this newspaper, covered the story. End of discussion.

NomoreCrap you might want to contact a group called NEOCOR (I think I got that correct). They can give you some information.

Forced or unforced, prostitution is illegal in the state of Ohio.

"Forced prostitution"? That's a delusional lie, there wasn't a single Korean female in the Spa ordeal who said she was forced! If what you said was true citizens would not be so critical. If just one woman was saved, I'd shut up about it.

We're still waiting on these sex slaves to be produced, and charges against those enslaving them. Since there have been no charges, that means there were no sex slaves or forced prostitution...

Uh.... yeah, do the people slamming the MVOC in here realize they were one of the main forces that unearthed the forced prostitution ring with the "massage parlors?" Did some of you forget about that already? Or did that upset you too?

I've no idea why Helen Rucker would be critical of the MVOC's outreach efforts. They've done neighborhood clean-ups and loads of work in the Warren area. Her remarks sound silly and somewhat aloof. Sunshine needs a serious assessment.

Something about Sunshine using tax dollars to screw poor people over seems to rub all kinds of people the wrong way.

Sunshine has accomplished one thing. They have managed to bring together posters that usually disagree. This issue isn't going away.

"The Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative is reaching out to organize residents living in Sunshine of Trumbull Inc. homes following recent revelations that the private, nonprofit organization at one point owed more than $188,000 in back property taxes and fines to the county"...

Did Helen Rucker reach out to Sunshine residents? NO. She reached out to Tony Iannucci and held his hand through her "public meeting" in which residents did not get a chance to talk. Did Iannucci reach out to his own residents? NO. Not until MVOC sent out a letter asking them to (gasp) come talk to each other and a lawyer about THEIR HOMES. MVOC is reaching out to the residents because no one responsible for this mess did! The City of Warren is complicit in this scandal until they seek to correct it FOR THE RESIDENTS, not their friends!

This is absolute proof why every citizen in Warren who is dissatisfied and wants positive affirmative change needs to show up, vote out the old do nothing gang of morons and vote in anyone else running for office!

Iannucci, Dean, Saffold & Rucker must go!!!

@AI55000 - you must be drawing a check from Sunshine. That is the most ridiculous comment I've seen posted concerning this situation. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Hey, nomore, some people can get away with murder in this town... Especially with the wolves guarding the hen house here in Warren.

And when a group is trying to actually advocate for the residents, you get members of council calling them out for it.

@Nativio, are you aware that Sunshine may not be following requirements to pull permits for rehab & construction work going on? I looked at a property they're working on and didn't see any permits displayed.

Furthermore are they being required to pay the yearly rental fee's charged like the rest of us? If so my guess is they are behind on all 50+ properties. If not I'd like to know under what theory of cronyism do they get a free pass...

Helen is correct. This organizing group has no business contacting citizens, filling their heads with the conspiracy ideas that certain people like to spread on blog comment boards.

This organization is trying to help people with limited manpower and funding. Things have gone off track, but are being repaired.

And please, copy the following and paste it in your google search bar:

The Boards of Sunshine of Warren and Warren Redevelopment and Planning.: Make their audited financial statements open to the public.

And then sign it.

I think everyone involved is a crook. Why is Trumbull County not being investigated by the FBI? The MVOC is just the renamed ACORN that was here before. While they are no doubt supporting a righteous cause this time, they will be back to help those poor people they organized vote for the very people that keep them poor.

Dear Ms. Rucker: Tony needs fired and the entire department should be audited. Please do your darn job for the RESIDENTS and then maybe MVOC wouldn't have to do it for you.

"Talking about people's business..."

Well, considering these residents live in these properties, it is their business.

Sunshine apparently did NO OUTREACH to their residents when the tax story hit the papers. They waited weeks, and only contacted their residents with an unsigned letter once the MVOC started knocking on doors.

Funny. Don't these letters usually get signed by somebody?

"They are not representing council..." Nope, MVOC is not representing council. In order to represent council, the MVOC would have to just go along to get along, not ask the tough questions and not give a*****about anything other than protecting various status quos within city government.

So no, this organization was proudly not representing council.

Ms. Rucker's statement shows that when push comes to shove, the inner circle of government cronies in Warren will always protect it's own first at the resident's expense. Sunshine is engaged in flat out poverty pimpin', they are government funded slumlords and this program is a total failure in every sense of the word but Ms. Rucker questions MVOC for actually talking to the people most affected by it, the residents themselves? Shameful.

Warren City Council has passed on every opportunity to actually advocate for Sunshine residents and has opted instead to continue to protect Tony Iannucci and his scam of low-income residents. These residents have a right to meet and discuss the security of their housing without Helen Rucker's permission. Council's job is to hold city funded entities accountable for the way they use resources and they have not done that.

40 grand a year for 20 hours of Sunshine work GIVEN to a man who gladly takes 38 grand a year for 40 hours of WRAP work.

This board of Sunshine needs to find someone willing and able to work 40 hours for thta 40 grand and who can devote his/her FULL attention to this job and this program.

Hey! Maybe that is something that should have been plainly suggested at that meeting of Ms. Rucker's!

wow... Who is the MVOC to have "closed door meetings", Ms. Rucker? Wow...

Wasn't the closed door meeting with the residents themselves?

I thought Ms. Rucker was all for helping out the poor folks of this city... Guess that goes out the window when her pal Mr. Iannucci might look bad...

I was at her meeting regarding Sunshine. It was mostly a joke. If it falls on the MVOC to make sure that the residents of these homes are not being neglected, like the tax debt has been, then so be it.

And why didn't this unsigned letter go out to residents to assure them everything was okay when the tax debt story initially hit the paper? Why only when news reached these pig ******* that the MVOC was knocking on doors did Sunshine feel the need THEN to tell their residents that everything was okay?
