Feather, safety concerns can easily be addressed by OSHA, you don't generally need to strike when our wonderful government provides ALL workers, union or non-union, with a safety net, only takes a phone call.

Billdog, true and I might add, what and I've heard this, if there were safety issues? Make no doubt there is when replacement workers are used.

Yes Jonathon you have a partial point, but assume for a minute safety was a concern of union. All the money lost or made isn't worth lost of limb, life of workers or bystanders.

People underestimate the job, its very physical and dangerous working in traffic esp in bad weather, middle of the night and many other factors people forget or don't realize.

It is true. Without knowing the particulars of this strike, and not commenting on it specfically, there are so many people in this area today who will not be happy until everyone makes minimum wage, no benefits, and no pension. I don't get it. What do you think your children are going to do when they grow up, aside from move away to find a living wage job?

That's why I say, support your locally owned businesses, support your local restaurants, consider buyng a Cruze the next time you're in the market for a new car. Now watch how many "disagrees" I get. All by people who are jealous to death if their neighbor makes a nickel more than they do.

Don't know, don't care about the particulars in the Alled Waste strike. They didn't pick up my garbage, or my recycle which I paid for. That said, I can and will fire Allied Waste and get another company to pick up my refuse. They are over priced anyway.

It's sad that so many are willing to just discount everything that ISN'T reported in this article. It always amazes me that the Trib never rights anything or interviews any of union members as to details. I guess when everybody is making $8/hr, people will start to pull together again. Every profession and job classification is slowly getting attacked. No longer does an education, certification, license, or trade guarantee anything.

I don't pretend to know what the particulars are in the workers problems that started this strike but I can state with certainy that these workers will NEVER recoup the amount of wages etc. that have been lost for the past several weeks. A strike in today's world does very little to benefit any workers involved. For more info on the particulars of this strike ask WarrenProud, she is the authority on everything, just ask her.

The company can no longer give the Union a blank check and say give in the amount you want. it ain't going to happen and most of the workers know it.

The workers should vote for Decerification from the Teamsters and form a local management-worker association. No longer send money to Teamsters International in Wash DC.

I would cut a deal with management for bonuses based on profitability. Without writing a book about Pensions, the workers have a golden opportunity, Will they explore all avenues? Doubtful.

The strikers are going back because replacements are hired and would be on the job taking their jobs making the strike a never ending one. It's garbage that they care about the customer. The company held all the right cards in this poker game.
