Pirate, its not up to union to modernize although they usually encourage companies to do so. Ask people who actually worked or work in industrial union shops.

Great point Mr.Sainato.We have been blowing up blast furnaces left and right while Asian interests have been buying scrap iron wherever it can be found (even old steel mills?).We may be ready for large-scale conflicts but can they be sustained without the ability to make steel from raw materials? Without enough scrap iron? After watching documentaries about WW I and WW II and how citizens and private industries pulled together to support the war effort,I'd say its questionable at best.

Their first allegiance is to China. They can also be found in Switzerland and the Cayman's.
