Billdog, I certainly hope you aren't using a racial undertone, never expected that from you. Careful there.

Nmc, has a point as does warrenproud. Now don't know if Mr. Merkels career goals are more important than actual oath duties, but there is to many insecure and greedy people out for number 1.

Aggreed with Billdog.

Some of you guys think the police are the ones that are just going to pull some magic out of a hat and BAM, crime free city? Maybe if some of you were actually active in your community instead of biatching and moaning about how bad your town is, maybe something would get done. It's much easier to be the loudest guy in a chat room than actually participate in anything outside your second amendment shrine you call your house.

I think any resident of Trumbull County would like to see the crime rate in Warren drop. Police can only do some much, they can't be everywhere every second. Much of this responsibility falls on residents. If you don't help the police by reporting bad behavior, then you live in an environment where bad behavior becomes the norm. When your neighbor is selling drugs, report it. When your neighbor lets their teens run the streets all night, report it. When your neighbor don't take care of their property, report it, etc... Police and mayors do not have the ability to see everything, they can only enforce the laws. When the neighbors watch bad behavior and turn their heads, then they are left to live in the conditions what they ignore.

Everything in Warren seems to be about job security instead of the good of it's citizens. Everybody wants their paycheck no matter what's going on in the City...

When will Warren get some police officers who are interested in dropping the crime rate instead of getting promoted? Merkel as Police Chief just means more of the same failings.

Like to see Bowers stick around but doubt that will happen, Merkle definitely covering his bases, who wouldn't?

Pretty sad when the Captains (next lowest rank) don't consider the Chief's position to be a promotion. Only Warren!
