LaBrae cruises past Beachwood and into state semifinals

OMG...Can't anyone say good luck and good job? Good luck Labrae, you should be very proud of your successful season! I hope you go all the way!

Don't understand how some adults can have such low self-worth to put down a young man/woman in a local newspaper article. These are KIDs, and you -in writing - put them down. WTF?

Be willing to bet the negative posts are from parents who's kids couldn't compete in athletics (not that there is something wrong with that, but there is when dad and mom say negative things about someone else's child).

I would pay money to see these posters exposed.

I call them athletic wannabee' losers.

P.s. the best part of it all, the kid from Labrae is intelligent, educated, good mannered, and has great family values...doesn't even need BB to be successful in life.

I'll take that over 4.5 speed, athletism, and not much - else any day.

Beachwood has an all-Ohio guard, a 6'4" athletic big, and other quick guards to accompany their two best players. They used pressure defense and their quickness to get to the regional final, in case you were actually wondering. If they had hit a few shots early in the game, it would have been closer as the zone wouldn't have been as influential. In terms of best player, overall it is obviously Aldridge, but he couldn't do it all by himself, which is where having Richardson, Richards, Brown, and company benefit everyone. Peyton couldn't have slowed Johnny Davis by himself, but as a whole the entire operation worked nearly flawlessly. To say Peyton won't play Division 1 is just ignorant, his AAU play is where the majority of the interest stems from. With a handful of offers, including one ACC team in the mix, you must be nuts to think he won't play.

I never once said I wasn't rooting for these boys. Not living in 05 either, just that that was the last time Labrae was any good. You know Regional appearance. The coaches are great. My point is the level of competition. There is none. I watched that game the other night, and still can't figure out how Beachwood even got there. A 6'6 kid will wreak havoc on a bunch of 5'11 kids , but will get man-handled by someone his own size in the paint. Todd Rowe and Chad Allen, best to ever come from Labrae.

WarrenSteel, never compared Peyton to Dasmar just said you will hear alot about him in the near future and for your VASJ's keep RECRUTING and keeping your enrollment down to play in the D4 tournment,go play in the D1 tournment where they they should be.All I'am saying is people should be proud of Labrae for going to state, and if u watched the game on Saturday against Beechwood you would of seen a good group of boys play as ONE unit!!All them boys show class, including the coaching staff. It takes more than one player to be successful, sounds like your still living in 05 !!! And if you live in Warren you should be proud of those boys, but by your comments you sound harden and jealous of this group of fine young men, this is 2013 not 2005!!! GO VIKES

Peyton is no Desmar. Not even close, this is like comparing Apples and Oranges. He does good but Marcell Richardson is the Best athlete on that team. Talk about knowledge, well yes you'd be a household name when there is no other person in Trumbull County. Oh, and he'll play ball in College, Division 2 not Division 1. It just not based on your skill but also they LEVEL of competition he's faced. I hope they Win... Wish them Well as a Team.. But wait til you see VASJ's 6'11 center.. and the 2 other 6'6 boys. Then we can talk competition.

solong and warren steel, for solong all I ever heard from u was bristol bristol, look at the WEAK schedule and the comment that bristol coach made,"I want Mcdonald", real class act,you have no sports knowledge, hahahah and for warren steel, knocking Labrae you gotta alot nerve talking about Peyton he is a junior and look what he does on the court, your just jealous you don't have that talent or the knowledge. Peyton is a all around basketball player, the last player that came out of warren that you hear about is Dasmar Jackson, and Peyton is only a junior,he is already a household name you will hear alot more about him in the near future. GOOD LUCK PEYTON AND THE VIKINGS IN COLUMBUS!!!!

Wow Warren Steel! Your comments make me think your a relative of someone on that team from '05! Columbus will not be the proof! They have already proved alot by making it this far! Did the '05 team? This team is leaps and bounds ahead of that team when it comes to teamwork! There were 2 many "I's" on the 05 team! Go Labrae! We support you!

Congratulations, Labrae Vikings! Keep up the hard work, hustle, and determination, and good luck at State! We in Bristol had to endure comments from "adults" in this comment section, criticizing high school student athletes for various supposed shortcomings or offenses, all season long. Disregard the negative posts in these comment sections. Keep on pushing, keep on playing hard, and bring a state title back to the area :)

1) Peyton's parents are not on the school board. His mother, who scored 1500 some points in her HS career, is a teacher at LaBrae. His father is a coach of several sports teams at LaBrae and has been a supporter of all sports programs his daughter (winner of 12 athletic letters during her high school career) and Peyton have been a part of. 2) Peyton is an exceptional student and genuinely nice young man. His athletic skills are not ALL he hangs his hat on-- that being said, he will be playing D1 ball somewhere in 2 years. 3) Be happy for these kids. No other team from MV is going to state. They are good. Who cares if they aren't as good as a team from 6 years ago (I never saw them play so I have no opinion). Good for that team too & hopefully those kids made something of themselves in the meantime.

Again, somebody is jealous! You need to stop bashing our boys and look at the scorebooks. That wasn't hype, that's called skill combined with the best coaching staff in Trumbull County. Good luck Vikings!

Wow I can't believe people are so mean.... I have seen this team play several times they are very good. Saying Payton isn't that good is just mean... 14 points , 7 blocks and 17 rebounds in this game the other night he had like 28 points . This whole area should be very proud of these young men !!! Ask all the teams they played this year how good they are I bet they will tell you!!! Good job Vikings bring home the state title!!!

The Viking's win again, that's right the VASJ Vikings and the Labrae Vikings. This could be the year of the Viking.

VASJ only won by nine points,

I Agree.. Not that impressive. The team from 05 with both Rowans, Hartman, Fredricks and Ryan was way better. These kids don't have to play the likes of OJ Mayo, David Lighty or Bill Walker.. you know all NBA players now. Wish them Well but more hype than skill. Columbus will be the proof. I seen Ryan school Aldridge in open gym and he hasn't been in school since 07. He gets hype because of his school board parents.. Real Talk.

solong: Hey you forgot to say, keep them away from black schools too. We know your basis. What you really hate is a private school with blacks,

Don't feel bad your not the only arse hole poster, your just the sickest one.

I think this is an amazing story. Saw them play 3 times and they really were not impressive. Tournament time came and the came together as a team fast. Have to support them now. Keep the title away from non-public schools.
