Someone from N.F. should have contacted the Ohio Secretary of State office over the handling of the petition. The pieces aren't fitting together on this.

GETEDUCATED, it is time to get educated. Petition the law. Get other people in town to sign your petition and it goes to the county and state and the citizens get to vote on it. NO law maker is allowed to impose a tax without the payers of that tax having the right to petition its legality. So, Make yourself a petty little petition, have registered voters sign it (only registered voters signatures count) and get it to a vote.

All of the citizens who have to pay this should ban together and have a class action lawsuit against the city!

Its kinda of hard to put it to a vote when the powers that be never returned the signed referendums to the board of elections, this was after the Trumbull County B.O.E. certified the signatures,NF city manager and law director never returned them to the B.O.E. and no one in Trumbull county cared that they were breaking the law, not the prosecutor of Trumbull county or anyone else that was forwarded the information. So here you have a case of citizens following the law, doing what was required by law and then the law director of NF takes upon himself to say that there were issues? If this was the case they should of been returned to the Trumbull B.O.E. and they should of made that determination. But alas no one cared , the citizens of NF were robbed of their TAX forcing them to pay for an over budget corrupt police chief who is no longer employed. What a JOKE!!

Be glad you do not live in Michigan right now.At least you had elected representation for the tax vote. Vote them out at the next election.

Werner, if the actions of the Newton Falls Council is unlawful, as you have said, why haven't you taken the issue to court? You may be right or you may be wrong on that charge, but writing a letter to the editor isn't going to fix it.
