I am not in favor of voting for any Warren policemen to be promoted to chief.

I'd also like to see an outsider with no ties, owing no favors, and having no allegiance get the job. I believe Jeff Cole is a better candidate for the job, either him or Gary Riggins. Both guys are fair, honest, and not afraid to enforce the law against thug police officers. I don't know anything about Gilmnore but a female in the Chief office would prove very interesting in a male dominated position...

Problem is Warren is not allowed by Ohio law to go outside the department. Only a charter city can do that. The real story here is why only one Captian wants the job. It's almost unprecedented for a person two ranks below being allowed to take a chiefs test. Pretty pathetic when none of the Captians want the hassle of being Chief in Warren.

I'd love to see someone in that position that hasn't had *some* sort of trouble or lawsuits, or even suspensions. Arrogance isn't what Warren needs. Gilmore hasn't been in any trouble, no suspensions, no lawsuits, and personally if it has to be someone that is already there, Gilmore is way more qualified. Book smarts is fine and dandy... but not when you have been in some sort of trouble. If he was that smart he wouldn't have been caught up in anything.. no matter how small it was.

It appears to me that Ms. Gilmore is the only person with ethics in the running for the position. She has proven that she doesn't have to be a thug or intimidate in order to get the job done. As leader of the enforcement of law in the community, maybe the community should be allowed to vote for the candidate of their choosing.

Its by who scores the Highest... And Merkel has the Highest education. He's book smart and my money is on him. And if he does get it, he'll be Chief for a long, long time. Best Wishes to All the candidates.

Gilmore is most qualified, a woman in charge would really shake things up! If anybody thought Mandopolis was arrogant, Merkel and Massucci would rank up there, esp in Chiefs position. Wish Bowers was sticking around for a while, done a good job.

The outsider now runs the dept: TheJustice Dept, same idiots that brought and gave assault rifles to Mexican drug dealers.

Border agent Terry is dead because of the Justice Dept.

Gilmore is the most qualified and would do a great job

An outsider would come in with NO political obligations and no ties etc. to the rank and file, if no favors are owed to anyone NO favors would be expected. This is the ONLY way a chief can do an effective job without having to worry about who is owed favors or anything else!

Why can't Warren bring in an outsider Police Chief, and clean up the WPD outhouse?

Plus she is apparently the only one without having been in trouble. We need to clean up the department, not elevate the troublemakers.
