A good teacher is worth their weight in gold. This is our future, our children's future. One of the most important jobs there is and always complaining about paying their wages. wow Another thing...If a teacher isnt doing their job, eliminate them! Make mandatory testing, classroom monitoring randomly..those who make these decisions take responsibility!!!!

1. As many of you know Vincent did receive a $9,900 kiss from the board for the district making Excellent with Distinction. But the Teachers that gave this to us can not get a contract!! Something is wrong with this pic, don't you think?

I have been contacted by a BOE spokesman this morning informing me that “The board had planed the “JOB FAIR”back in October (two months after the teachers contract expired) and it is just a coincidence that is will occur during contract negations with our teachers and that all the board is looking for is good substitute’s.” Ok I ask you, was the add placed in October or January, before negotiations, after negotiations or during negotiations?

How does this add read? “Your are invited to a job fair for FULL TIME, PART TIME and SUBSTITUTE positions”. Now please I ask you what is the intent of this “JOB FAIR”? It is my opinion that the Board and its Superintendent Vincent Colaluca never planned to negotiate in a timely manner or in good faith. This board need to end the games now get this contract finished before our students end up paying the price.

Well if some of you had your way your schools report card would one that read Emergency status. Lower wages for teachers and watch the turnover. Most places that have high turn over rates have low performance, low productivity and poor workers. I guess for some of you that is what you want for your schools. Great thinking if your a moron.

You have teacher's that have Master's Degrees, and stuck at 30k, due to wage freezes. All you people that think it's great, what would you expect to make, if you got a Master's Degree? Go ahead. Make teaching a terrible job, then you will have to lower the standards needed. That will be awesome.

So in order to get a prominent write up of your views in the tribune, just being a parent and staging a one man sit-in is enough?

Anyone who thinks bringing in replacement workers helps the situation is crazy. Austintown schools doesnt paty all that much in benefits because they habe now given their workers short hour contracts so they cant get benefits. I hope the teachers shut them down. Why is it when your a public employee everyone thinks you should work fir free yet when your a factory worker they have no problem with the raises/benefits that raise the cost of the product. Teachers and service workers all produce a product also ... Your childs education and future and they care for those buildings your tax dollars provide.

This BOE has it right. Go ahead and strike. We got replacements all ready to replace you. Now they need to go after elimination of step increases, and increase the employees' share for pension and healthcare costs.
