The problem with shutting these places down is that it will just go from one place to the next, like the humuan blight that it is, until 422 looks exactly like the plaza on West Market: an empty wasteland. Can anyone tell me how much attention WRAP has given to selling that fine piece of real estate to a developer? How about the empty land where Westlawn was, which is why we have these problems anyway.

nativio289, I wasn't agreeing or disagreeing with what some propose. I was stating that if the business is part of the problem, shut it don't, if the business is being a victim of the communities lower forms of life, help the business.

I am dumbfounded by the things I read in the comment section. The things people will say under the guise of a username. Some of you should be ashamed of your selves!!!

it's obvious that you cannot count on your officials to clean up the city. That is why I said vigilante justice will be coming into play soon. I remember when I was younger and Ashtabula started to go downhill. People started going to Warren to avoid the nasties in Bula. Well Warren and Youngstown are just as nasty if not worse. Filthy, dirty, vulgar. I say gather them all up and drop a bomb. One clean sweep. Metallica said it best "Kill 'Em All"

Warren is pretty much a "city under siege" and a victim of its own leaders and officials. The day is coming where we are going to see something different as the residents have no choice. The hood now encompasses all most three quarters of city with the other quarter being threatened. Vipers comment "dark in the day" pretty much says it ALL. These RATS need major extermination by whatever means possible.

Viper, really, the country people do not want the city people moving out here and cluttering up our space. Let the city people do what the country people do and aim a buckshot right square at the keesters of the cockroaches that have spoiled their neighborhoods. I wouldn't leave my home without first fighting for it with all I've got.

What p isses me off is the plea bargins the prosecutors offer, the first thing they do is drop the mandatory 3 years for using a gun and reduce other charges, then all the liberals cry about gun control. Stop plea bargining and have a trial and send these hood rats away.

You have that statement cut and pasted so you can keep reposting it, Viper?

Wow. The country is safer than the city. What a ******* brilliant, bucking the trends, leap of faith statement that is.

Don't get your hopes up people! All it is just talk nothing more. If they did what they say there going to do in Warren there wouldn't be any crime there what so ever! People move from that dump they call Warren and move out here in the country where your safe and your children are safe and it's not dark in the daylight!

I foresee vigilantism taking place. Criminals don't care about gun laws, drug laws or any other laws. Why should we?

No pansy judge, No wimpy prosecutor. No over stuffed jail cells. Just an eye for an eye.

Billdog. You want me to type out a list of the businesses near there that haven't have one-twentieth of the police calls?

True, can't blame the business for the neighborhood. Not the gentleman who owns this chain of gas stations fault that too many good people moved away and scum came in and took their place.

It might be fault though if loitering is allowed. If he is open too late, catering to the up all night and in trouble crowd. It might be his fault if he is too cheap to hire a guard for the late night hours. Might be his fault if, and I'm speculating here, he hires people to work there who may be attracting this bad element.

Again, funny how US Subs doesn't have these issues. Or Franklin Pharmacy. Or Bi-Rite...

21 calls in 8 days? Golly! Seems like a problem!

And why didn't the Tribune cover this when it happened? A shootout on 422, a gateway in and out of the city? A woman stuck in the middle of it?

How can the citizens be safe if they are not told what problems are around?

It's like the mall. Everyone thinks the mall is safe because crime doesn't get reported. The gang fights, armed robberies, car break ins... There is a cone of silence around crime there since advertizing dependent "news" services don't want to mess up that client relationship... And so people are not on guard out there. Folks leave bookbags in their cars. Folks aren't watching their backs...

Same with Warren. If you don't realize things like this happen, you aren't watching out for it. Hey, I heard there was some gunfighting happening earlier this week behind the Save A Lot on N. Park? Where is that reported?

What good is a task force when the jails are full and all that happens is the police arrest these idiots and they are back on the streets before the police gets the paper work done. I think that we need to punish and I mean punish these idiots the first time they commit a crime. A punishment that detures them from ever wanting to commit crime again. It is the same people over and over again that is causing the problem and we can have all the police in the world but when the criminals are being slapped on the hand and back out to harm another victim before the first victim is out of ER we will continue to have the same problem. We need to let criminals know that this city will not tolorate the violence and crime before it will ever stop.

IF the business is allowing these undesirables to hangout and behave badly on their property the business should be held accountable.

I wonder how many of the calls came from the business reporting bad behavior because the neighborhood problem citizens was a problem to the business as well? You can't always blame the business for the people that live in their area. That being said, if the business is ALLOWING bad behavior on its property, shut it down. Then there is always the fact this fraction of society will just utilize its empty parking lot for more bad behavior.

Sadly, the Warren area is going downhill FAST! Although I never see this type of action, I'm pretty sure that my reaction wouldn't be as exaggerated as the weak and frail.

What the local media didn't report is that this shooting happened at 5pm in broad daylight with heavy traffic.

If/when they pull the Pit stop liquor license, those pond scum will just move across the street to the convenient store.

Why the h3ll would the tribune give this lady's name and address, putting her life, her daughters and her mothers life in jeopardy now. That's insane. Why would people want to attempt to speak up and help when you would have to sleep with one eye open because the town newspaper can't get it's priorities str8. smdh

A task force for these problems? What about a task force for the inevitable that has a firm grip on our city? Discussions have increased since the New Years Eve shooting? What about all of the previous events? Did we not take any consideration or thought after those? Your right, no one should have to live like we do! Please put an effort into fixing the REAL problem that breeds for the most part a lot of other problems ........
