The problem is that many people in the US feel that healthcare is a privilege and they do not feel that they should have to share resources of this country to achieve universal access. That is the distinct difference with other countries like Canada, UK, Europe, even Japan and Korea who have widespread healthcare schemes. Eventually, health care will be looked at in the same light as police, fire, education, clean water, clean air, etc.

This is a really excellent, informative article. I'm honestly kind of surprised but I guess this is what can result when you take discussing Obamacare away from the editorial staff's goofy columns.

I think it's hilarious that people bash Canada's healthcare system since it's got nothing to do with Obamacare. Canada has a single-payer system and the closest thing we have to that in the U.S. is Medicare. It'll be a while until the whole country is singe-payer (though not soon enough) but for the meantime Obamacare has some good measures in it.

Ignore the hysterics because the ACA is here to stay.

If you want to know what government controlled health care (Obamacare) looks like, just study the Canadian health system with its rationing and long wait times for services, or the British National Health system, with its shortages, poor care, and withholding of medicine to the elderly. The government will decide what's best for us from now on, no matter how wasteful, inefficient, or arbitrary.

When you hand over your freedom to the government bureaucrats, you will have to fight like heck to ever get it back.
