Response to violence appears soft

January 7, 2013

Could it be that Warren’s leaders don’t want to get tough on violent crime? Or does it just seem that way? Let’s take the troubled Sunset Lounge as an example....

haha. The Law Director called the Tribune a "rag" at council last night.

Something the best mustache in town and I agree on!

Instant closing with out cost, is much better than fighting to close and maybe lose. Mr. Ed it appears your agenda is nothing more than to criticize regardless of outcome.

Business is closed within 72 hours= a soft response to violence. Hmmm.

And how many mentors does Mr. Z have?

From the article in this paper a few weeks ago:

"...The murder scene, 156 and 158 Elm Road, and nearby parking lot on Elm Court are owned by Warren businessman Robert Cregar, whom Ziegler describes as a 'business mentor.'..."

You get your facts wrong, Guy? I assume this was what was in your head when you wrote this. Cregar is whom Ziegler says is his mentor, not this other fella.

And you two under me miss the point entirely. This editorial was more about city administration and law department fumbling the ball. Not the police department or the Chief.

I still wonder what WRAP did to help the Sunset... I'm sure it was the same help they give the Warner House to add more apartments for the poor and the same help they gave the YWCA to put in free, open-ended living for poor women and their families.

That really count as "redevelopment"? At least in terms of the gentrification that a true, working, qualified redevelopment company should be doing...

Seems like the victims and their families in this shooting might have a case against the city... "Why was that bar still open when you could have shut it down?" Would not have been open on New Years if that Columbus hearing(s) had happened!

Probably not. But I would love to read that story in the paper if they tried!

First off, Bail Bonds Bob owns the building. Sankey is just the alleged owner of the bar and holder of the liquor permit.

And yes, the response seems to have been soft, after this murder and after the Vets Day shootings. Police and administration can say "things are happening behind the scenes" and "the investigation is ongoing and we do not comment on ongoing investigations", but where was the public push back against these criminals? Where is the show of force for the benefit of the citizens? Simple Public Relations really. Maybe Vic R. can tell you guys more about PR.

Don't understand why the business wasn't padlocked and don't understand why the liquor license gets to stay. Warren, Ohio: Home of the Path of Least Resistance.

And tying in the printed statement that WRAP helped this business open was a stroke of genius! Now, Guy, start looking into what that guy does and how that organization operates next.

Search the Web for "Brimfield Police Chief David Oliver" and read some of the postings from his social-media presence. That's the kind of thought process we need here. The "some people are just BAD PEOPLE" approach.

Folks, I've said it many times before and I'm going to say it again. Warren, Ohio will never solve it's crime problem until a new chief of police from outside this area is hired - the top officers are replaced and our government leaders are replaced with people who really want Warren to be close to crime and drug dealing free.PERIOD!!!!!!!!!
