More liquor permits do not make sense

December 30, 2012

DEAR EDITOR: The city of Warren has been trying to revoke the liquor licenses of several current businesses at various locations around town because of fights, drugs, etc....

The rules for street enforcement are this:

Contract calls for 2 people per eight hour day walking the streets five days a week.

If this happens, they can make note of how long a car is parked downtown. They will notice that a vehicle was somewhere for less than the time it took to make a complete walk and pass the vehicle again.

As it stands, the two ladies who do street enforcement hang out in the parking deck and only go out every two hours. It has been this way all last year. Sometimes, the ladies are actually manning the parking deck. Now, if the contract states that they are for street enforcement, how is the street being enforced if they are sitting in the deck, either having a party or manning it?

More WRAP nonsense. Wish this paper would wake up on this like they did Sunshine...

Mr Cantalamesa, will do no more than the he is told. Don't rock the boat or your job will be gone at the first opportunity. It isn't the alcohol, it's the clientele of these dumps. The Horseshoe, Hall Ave. Inn, J & L Lounge, Kiefers, Little Wing Cafe', Walters, and the list goes on that there doesn't seem to be any problems with. The problems seem to stem from the management and ownership. Inviting scum to your home tends to bring a stench.

Nativio is correct. It is time to put in place "rules"? that attract people to Warren. I am hopeful that Mr Cantalamesa will address these concerns of those wishing to be treated fairly in Warren.

When will this council take a look at how WRAP is handing the street enforcement end of the parking contract and demand proper enforcement?

When?

How many letters to the editor have to be written like this before something is done?

Why do certain people with city contracts get to do whatever they want?
