Shari Harrell steps up
By STEPHANIE WATSON Tribune Chronicle correspondent As the executive director of the YWCA of Warren and the president of the Warren City Schools Board of Education, Shari Harrell is not only familiar with community service — for her, it’s a way of life. Harrell was born and raised in Warren, and her dedication to community service started with her parents. “My father was from Warren and my mom was from North Carolina,” Harrell said. “Both of my parents were volunteers and involved in the community. My father, Robert, was in the real estate business all his life. Initially he worked with his father, Paul, at the company my grandfather founded in 1939 — Harrell Real Estate. He eventually took over the company and ran it until I purchased it in 1994. He was always active in the community.
