Build a Raised Planting Bed

May 29, 2009

Fresh lettuce, carrots radishes and scallions... there is nothing better than fresh picked vegetable from a garden. If you are looking for a healthier approach to eating this summer a garden may be the way to go. If your space is limited or you have difficulty bending over to maintain a garden then you may be the perfect candidate for a raised garden. Raised beds are extremely easy to build. They are great for vegetables and flowers because they allow you to artificially provide substantially more topsoil, which will help plants to thrive and flourish. Things You’ll Need — Forms for your raised bed 4 - 4” x 4”x 24” posts for corners 4 - 2” x 12” x 9 ft pieces for the ends 4 - 2” x 12” x 3 ft. pieces for the sides — Enough nails and screws to hold the corners secure. They should be no less than 3” in length.
