Heacock’s future still in limbo
There was one question that could not be answered following Youngstown State’s final home game of 2009, and it likely will stay that way for another few months. That lingering thought remains: Was it Jon Heacock’s last game as the Penguins’ coach? Heacock has been under fire after YSU (5-5, 3-4 Missouri Valley Conference) fell out of playoff contention yet again. The Penguins have advanced to the postseason once in Heacock’s nine years as coach. He has a 59-44 record after Youngstown State beat Illinois State, 30-18, on Saturday. He’s won at least a share of the conference title twice (2005-06). That’s a solid resume, but, unfortunately for Heacock, it probably won’t be enough to save his job.
