Delhomme hopes to end QB problems in Cleveland
BEREA — As much as Louisiana native Jake Delhomme likes New Orleans, the best thing that might have happened for him was a flight delay that kept him from an interview with the Saints. Instead of making a connecting trip from Atlanta to New Orleans after visiting with the Browns, Delhomme returned to his home in Charlotte, N.C. It was from there that he decided the next step in his NFL career should be to accept a two-year contract offer from the Browns. The decision was clear cut. He would have been a backup to quarterback Drew Brees in New Orleans. Although Delhomme hasn’t been promised a starting job with the Browns, it’s apparent that he will be the guy. You do the analysis. Now that Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson are gone, who’s left to start? Seneca Wallace is a career backup, and the same could be said of Brett Ratliff. Delhomme signed with the Browns expecting to start the 2010 season.
