Is ‘Dream On’ an ‘American Idol’ killer?
Assorted ramblings from the world of entertainment: l In today’s Ticket there’s an interview with season seven ‘‘American Idol’’ contestant Michael Johns, who will perform Saturday at Eastwood Mall in Niles. As I write this on Wednesday, I don’t know who was voted off the show last night, but it’s worth noting that the song Johns sang the week he was eliminated was ... Aerosmith’s ‘‘Dream On.’’ Danny Gokey sang the same song Tuesday. I don’t remember much about Johns’ final appearance, but I doubt that he hit a note as sour as Gokey’s final screech. Certain songs have a reputation for being contestant killers on ‘‘Idol.’’ If Danny no longer is in the running, maybe ‘‘Dream On’’ should be added to that list. I guessing Adam Lambert didn’t go home, but I’m still not convinced he’s certain to win the ‘‘Idol’’ crown, even though he’s clearly the most accomplished and polished performer of the bunch.
