Orchids and Onions

November 9, 2008

ONION: To officials in McDonald who are considering new rules concerning outdoor woodburning stoves. Apparently, legislation is in the works to deal with concerns surrounding the outdoor heating systems. We are sure more and more people are using this whole-house method of heating their homes as the price of fuel oil and other methods of heating have gone up. The homeowners don’t need another layer of bureaucracy to deal with. ORCHID: To the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity for completing its 32nd home in Warren and also its fifth house in one year. The latest house is on Jackson Street. Organizers plan on completing a sixth house by the end of the year. We admire the group for its efforts. ORCHID: To the Boys and Girls Clubs of Youngstown and the YWCA of Warren. The organizations united to hold a free youth against violence program with focus on violence and anger. “The Violence Prevention Overnighter’’ for youth in grades eight to 12 was held from 6 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m.
