Picking up after yourself is still an important lesson
Ever since we were old enough to drop something on the floor, we have been reminded to pick it up. Toys, clothes, shoes, books and miscellaneous other treasures slip from our hands to the floor when we are distracted by something else far more important than what we already have. Parents and siblings cover for your mess for a while, but then you should be taught and expected to do it yourself. Some people never learn this lesson, or maybe have had someone pick up after them too long. These people have graduated from being irresponsible to being ignorant. Picking up after ourselves is a lesson in self-discipline and respect to others. Setting the example for others, especially young people, is necessary. I’m no neat freak; just take a gander at my car interior. When I do clean it out, I at least throw the trash into a trash bin. McDonald’s and Burger King have handy trashcans in the drive-throughs that I donate to frequently.
