Tigers ready for big task
NEWTON FALLS — The Orrville Red Riders don’t look like a normal high school basketball team. Newton Falls Tigers coach Roy Sembach noticed that when he saw the Red Riders in action. Apparently there’s something in the water in Orrville that allows young men to physically mature at a rapid pace. “They look like men,” Sembach said. “They’re very big and strong, and they’re a physical team. They’re very mature looking.” The teams will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Canton Memorial Field House to battle for the Division III regional championship. Orrville advanced with a 65-59 semifinal win over Cleveland Central Catholic, while Newton Falls moved on with a 60-48 win over East Canton. The Red Riders (19-5) have four players that stand 6-foot-4 or taller. The Tigers will have to focus on 6-6 junior Zach Wasson, who scored 24 points against Cleveland Central. While the Red Riders’ size is impressive, 6-2 senior guard Jacob Bolyard is the man cog in their attac.
