9:05 a.m.: Death scheduled for 10 a.m.
LUCASVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio prepared Wednesday to execute its second inmate in as many months after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his last ditch effort to prevent the sentence from being carried out. Gregory Bryant-Bey, 53, was scheduled to die at 10 a.m. by injection for the 1992 stabbing and robbery of collectibles store owner Dale Pinkelman in Toledo. Bryant-Bey lost his last appeal Tuesday when the high court denied a request for a 60-day reprieve to present additional information to Gov. Ted Strickland. Strickland on Tuesday rejected Bryant-Beyás request for clemency and a reprieve. ààThere are no other options. He gets killed,áá said Carol Wright, Bryant-Beyás federal public defender. Bryant-Bey slept through the early morning hours on the day of his execution after a night that included a lengthy phone conversation with his son and time spent writing a series of notes at a desk in his cell and watching TV, prisons spokeswoman Andrea Carson said Wednesday.
