American Idol tour dates announced
April 17, 2009 - Andy Gray
The tour dates are set for this season’s “American Idol” top 10.
As always, Pittsburgh and Cleveland are included on the tour, which opens July 5 in Portland, Ore. The area dates are Aug. 22 at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh and Aug. 23 at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland.
All shows will go on sale May 9. No prices have been announced yet.
Speaking of “Idol,” I was surprised the judges the decided to use their save their week on Matt Giraud. Simon Cowell is right – he has no chance to win. As the competition has progressed, he’s move up from a bottom-of-the-pack to a middle-of-the-pack contestant, but he won’t crack the almost certain final four of Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta.
If by some chance he doesn’t get voted off during the double elimination for disco week, he’ll be gone the following week. More than likely, Anoop Desai and Matt will sing for the last time Tuesday.
I think the only reason the judges used the save is that that didn’t want to go the whole season without using their new toy, and it’s unlikely they’ll need it for Adam or Danny. Personally, I wish they’d have saved Alexis Grace a few weeks ago, mainly because her elimination shattered my “American Idol” pool entry.
